Gianni Castagnoli, italian visual artist and filmmaker (Bologna 1946-2007), in his art used poor materials (paper, cardboard, wood and putty, which he uses in his paintings to represent objects). From 1969 he exhibited paintings and installations in collective and solo exhibitions. From 1972 he obtains important acknowledgments as a cinematographic author and participates with his films (including one of the most interesting results of the Italian experimental cinema, La Nott'e 'l Giorno, 1976)
